Screen Stars
By using star screen technology, materials such as wood chips, recyclables, biomass, and waste can be separated into different size fractions. The screen stars are arranged offset on shafts. Thanks to the star-shaped geometry of the sorting discs, larger particles remain on the surface and move along the direction of rotation, while smaller particles fall through the star screen. For this efficient method of size separation, screen stars made of rubber and polyurethane are used.
We manufacture rubber screen stars in all common sizes and weights – from solid rubber stars starting at 100 g to metal-reinforced stars weighing over 7 kg. We are also happy to design and produce custom screen stars tailored to your specific requirements.
Screen Stars and Sorting Discs
Rubber compounds exhibit varying levels of abrasion depending on their quality and area of application. E.F.M. screen stars are manufactured from StatoFlex special rubber, which has been developed for the most demanding applications.
Under abrasive conditions, StatoFlex products demonstrate exceptionally low wear. The wear resistance of this special rubber is comparable to that of cross-linked industrial polyurethane, allowing for long service life even with rubber screen stars.
Rubber Screen Stars in StatoFlex Quality
Why choose rubber screen stars made from StatoFlex?
Rubber is a proven material that remains widely used and, in many applications, superior to alternatives. A clear example is car and truck tires, which are still predominantly made from rubber due to their outstanding durability and performance.
What are the key advantages of rubber?
Wet slip resistance
Rubber provides excellent wet grip. Its naturally matte surface offers significantly better slip resistance in wet conditions compared to polyurethane.
Hydrolysis Resistance
Rubber offers excellent resistance to hydrolysis. When exposed to water or weathering, it does not show premature signs of aging. In contrast, hydrolysis resistance in polyurethane is typically only achieved with specialized grades, which often do not provide high abrasion resistance. As a result, standard industrial polyurethanes used in humid environments may develop a rigid, inelastic surface layer often referred to as “elephant skin” which is a clear sign of material aging.
Weather Resistance
Rubber offers excellent resistance to weathering. As a result, screen stars made from StatoFlex have a significantly longer service life than other elastomers, even under harsh environmental conditions.
Cost Efficiency
Rubber offers a cost advantage, as it is generally more economical than polyurethane in most applications.
In conclusion, evaluating different materials can help reduce costs in the medium and long term. Rubber screen stars, in particular, can offer a highly cost-effective solution.
